Describe a website you like to visit.
I want to talk about a useful website which is Trip Advisor. You can find it on the internet and I just have it as a favourite on my toolbar. I am a complete TripAdvisor junkie! I visit the website every time when I plan my travels. The website is massive and functional. It provides hotel and restaurant reviews, accommodation bookings and other travel-related content.
TripAdvisor, for me, is a one-stop location for all tourism information. I really like that I can have different options of accommodation, but it also provides a lot of guidance for your travelling. You'll also find low airfares, free travel guides, worldwide vacation rental listings, popular forums with advice about virtually every destination, and more. I wonder if you also use the website too, and if you do, whether you might also be as avid a follower as me.

I'd like to talk about YouTube, you know, the video sharing website, but actually, it is blocked in China, I'll need a VPN in order to log on to the site.
I've been a visitor of this website for as long as I could remember, at first, I was really into those hilarious videos, for example, there are people imitating the plots of a certain movie, like a parody of a horror film or things like that. And sometimes they would change the voice of the movie, and replace them with funny dialects.
I love to watch them 'cause it's a great way to kill time and release the pressure, as they say, laughter is the best medicine, right?
And these years, there are super talented singers who post their cover songs to this website, and they have tons of followers, well, obviously, I'm one of them. And to be honest, sometimes they sound more appealing than the original ones.
Besides, if you are a risk taker, you would love this website 'cause you'll find a lot of people who share the same interests. People who are crazy about extreme sports would post videos about their adventure, like jumping off buildings or doing difficult and dangerous actions near the cliff. Every time I watch those videos, I would be like, 'Wow! Amazing! Incredible!'
And tutorials are also available there. All kinds of 'icons' would teach viewers certain skills, like how to do makeup, how to cook, how to match your clothes, and things like that.
So you see, you can always find something you are interested in on that website.

In our life we often give advises to others in times when we feel that’s necessary. This is a basic human nature to give advices and share thoughts with others. I gave many advises to others, mostly to my friends and relatives, and one such advise I still remember and feel good about was the one that I gave to one of my classmates when I was in the college.
I advised him to continue his study no matter what. The friend whom I gave advice was (…say a name…) and I talked to him for more than 3 hours. He one day told me that he had been planning to quit the college and get involve in some kind of job to support his family. That was in my opinion a very wrong decision as it would ruin every possibility he has in his career and he would have to work on low level jobs for the rest of his life. I advised him not to drop out from the college and study hard. I showed him some of the examples where others are supporting their family even after continuing their study. I told him that it would be very tough and sometimes you would feel like abandoning the college but don’t even think of doing it. I also advised him to manage any part time job in local library or to talk to our teacher about his condition.
After few days, he told me that he had given some serious thought about it and won’t quit the college. I felt overwhelmed and happy to hear that. He talked to our course teachers and one of the teachers arranged him a part time job. He was happy and he finally finished his graduation from one of the prestigious universities of our country. Now he is working in a respectable government office and he is still grateful to me for the advice I gave him. I felt very well when I found him continuing his study and in fact he was a bright student. I still feel very glad to be able to give him an advice that proved to be very helpful for him.

I remember when I was considering which course I wanted to follow at university I received two pieces of good advice from two different people. One of them was my father and the other was one of my teachers at school.
My teacher told me that based on my abilities and academic performance I would probably be good at subjects like economics or maybe mathematics. My father told me that I should study something I am interested in, no matter what other people think about my choice. I think that both of them gave me good advice.
My teacher observed that I was very good at analyzing things and understanding how different things can influence each other. I was very interested in economics at school when we studied it because it involves many different aspects of life, business, and social factors.
She (my teacher) said that I would probably find it more satisfying to study something I was really interested in than try and do something that was maybe more popular like something related to oil and gas or medicine which is quite popular for women here.
Finally, I decided to study Economics because I like the subject and because I knew I would be happy doing it. I’m almost finished my course now and I have really enjoyed it so I think it was a good decision.
Hopefully, I will be able to get a good job, either here or abroad when I graduate. So I guess you could say I followed the advice from both people who gave me it. I’m happy about my choice, and my father and teacher too.

范文
Well I am going to talk about a good suggestion that one of my leaders told me when I worked as an intern teacher in the last summer holiday. Back then I just got back home from school and I got an internship in a language training school. I was supposed to teach children aged from 5 to 10 some easy English lessons and I needed to report their studying feedbacks to their parents. Since I did not have any teaching experience, I felt very nervous. I was so afraid that these children would not like me and their parents would consider me too young to do the job. When I made phone calls to their parents, I had to prepare every line I was supposed to say in advance or I would be too nervous to talk naturally. My manager saw how anxious I was and she told me “never fear for what have not happened and don’t always prepare for the worst”.
After pondering over her words, I felt that I should be more optimistic. Sometimes we are so seized by fear that we are totally trapped in this kind of emotion. We couldn’t think and we couldn’t act normally. So after hearing the suggestion she offered to me, I determined to put aside all these worries and just did my best. My efforts were well paid off and these children and their parents liked me.
It was not just a piece of advice applied to my first intern job. In different phases of life, we will face different kinds of problems, so desperate and annoyed. On one hand, we need to have the awareness of preparing for the worst once things go down. On the other hand, the worst occasion rarely happens so the extra anxiety is not good for people’s health and life.

Well, I in my life I have tasted so many birthday cakes, anniversary cakes, and marriage cakes. But after reading the word “special cake”, there’s only one cake which I think is special. So here I would talk about it.
It is a red velvet cake. Red Velvet cake is a red or red-brown layer cake and this cake is usually topped with yummy cream cheese frosting. Unlike normal cakes, this cake has a blood red interior. It's common ingredients include buttermilk, butter, cocoa, and flour for the cake, beetroot for the colour.
As it is commonly served on Christmas or Valentine's Day, So I got chance to taste this cake last year.
I tasted this cake in a Christmas Party held at Hyatt Hotel in Ludhiana. Overall, it was a Christmas party with lots of fun and games. Hopefully, I would be going there this year also.
As I said earlier I tasted this cake in a party, so I had this cake with everyone who was present in the party. No doubt, majority of them were not known to me, but while celebrating, we all enjoyed the party together. I was familiar there with only one person, and that was my friend – Barack Obama.
Well, I believe this cake is very special. It is because for the first time in my life, I tasted a cake which was red in colour. Moreover, it was 4 tier cake. And interesting this about this cake is that Red velvet cake is colored with beets, instead of artificial food colouring. This cake is also called as “red Waldorf cake,” “red carpet cake,” “red mystery cake,” “flame cake,” and “$300 cake”.

The occasion that I had a special cake was two years ago. It was the last few months of my university. I had completed my dissertation and the job I had found did not start yet. So to kill the spare time, my best friend and I decided to have a travel to Tsingtao, a famous tourist city, with yummy seafood and mild climate.
One day, after we finished the tour to the undersea world, it was already 6 o'clock in the afternoon, a time for dinner. We randomly picked a restaurant on the street and ordered some local dishes. Then he said he would go out for a moment to make a phone call, as the restaurant was very noisy. I said 'fine, I will just wait here'. It was a long wait, and he did not return until the dishes were served. In his hand, I found a cake. That was when I suddenly realized that that day was my birthday and he had not been out to make a phone call, but to look for a cake shop.
It was just a normal cake, with some cream and cereal crisps, and did not have any delicate decorations. But it was the most special and delicious cake I had ever had. We were in a foreign city, exhausted from the trip, but he still remembered my birthday which I had already forgotten. The cake was the symbol of our friendship.

Describe an occasion that you had a special cake
You should say:
When you had this cake
Where you had this cake
Who were with you
And explain why you think it was special
解析:
P2
Last month my best friend Cynthia once went to Paris for a business trip. And she brought me a box of delicate chestnut cake, which I think it’s very special till now. They were hexagon shape cake with rich and fine icing sugar on the top. All side edges were decorated with M&M’s chocolate beans, they were colorful and cute even with tiny smile faces on each topside. They had delicate and smooth taste. The strong fresh chestnut and chocolate fragrance was so tempting. There were all six cakes in the box. Cynthia and I ate them together at the roadside. A homeless cat shared it with us.
I think it’s special till now because I haven’t eaten such authentic chestnut cakes before. Besides that, Cynthia just suffered a failure in a relationship before she went to Paris for a business trip. She was driven to a state of broken-down because of the “jerk”. I tried to comfort her and drop everything. But it’s easier said than done. She was afraid of making mistakes during the business trip but I told her to relax and regarded it as an opportunity for travelling. When she rushed to see me and told me that everything would be fine, she brought me the cake. Desserts are the best solutions to sad girls. The chestnut cakes marked a new start for Cynthia.

范文
I would like to talk about one of my best friends’ birthday party last year, which was an unforgettable occasion to me because of a really special cake.
While I do not have a sweet tooth, most of my friends are big fans of confections. I guess some of them can even be called ‘sweet addicts’. Anyway, that’s why they decided to make a red velvet cake as a birthday gift for Kelly, one of my best friends in high school. Since it was for Kelly, I rolled up my sleeves and gave them a hand despite my limited baking skills.
It took us three days to complete the baking, and the moment Kelly saw the nicely baked cake decorated with flowers, she was totally in awe, since none of us ‘bakers’ was actually a decent cook. The truth is, it was not easy for a group of green hands to get together and try making this work. We first had a big fight over whether we should make Kelly a Choco Lave cake or a red velvet cake. The fight has been on for a whole day and we finally decided to make her the latter because she once said that red velvet cake looked cute. I can’t remember how many times there were when someone accidentally messed up with the eggs, or forgot to take the cake out of the oven. After times of failing, we finally managed to have baked a lovely red velvet cake that smells really nice. The cream was rich and the color was just about right. To be honest, it somehow reminded me of a rose in spring. Well, I guess I was just being too happy about what we had achieved.
On Kelly’s birthday party, we shared the cake with a whole bunch of other guests, and everyone there agreed it was delicious. A bit oversweet though, probably because some of us had put too much sugar in it. In spite of this, Kelly said she loved it as much as she loved us, and the cake was the best birthday gift she ever received. Well, I have to admit that, her words had made it all worthwhile and special.

I was once a member of our school’s photography club which organised training sessions for people who had an interest in photography or video editing About 5 years ago, our school organized a short documentary competition in which the first prize could win 1000 RMB, so I immediately gathered some talented people I encountered in the club and formed a team to participate in the competition. After days of discussion, we decided to shoot a video about the Chongqing hot-pot, which was a typical dish (佳肴) in my hometown. We divided the work according to our individual skills. My friends were in charge of (负责) the script writing and the editing of the film, while I was responsible for the shooting. At the beginning, I encountered many obstacles (障碍) and challenges such as technical problems, and I also felt a little stressed (乏力的) trying to find a decent restaurant to record appropriate videos. Fortunately, I had a patient coach and several intelligent team members who always helped me tackle those challenges. They accompanied me to the restaurant and inspired me a lot in terms of what to shoot and which direction to shoot from. Finally, we submitted our half-an-hour-long documentary right before the deadline (截止日期) and, to our delight, even won the first prize! I learned so much through this experience and realized the importance of cooperating with your team members. Unity creates greater achievement and I could never have accomplished such a result without the help of my friends.

首当其冲的是th的发音,凡是遇到th我们都要咬舌头,比如the, think, this, mother, both, three, through, month, maths。
Neither father nor mother likes this weather.
容易/n//l/淆 的常见词还有:let,like,live,light,low,night,ninenose,net等等。
Mike likes to write by the nice bright light at night.
I like the shape of that mountain.(包含了四个容易混淆的元音)
双元音是指音标中的八个音[ei][ai][?i][au][?u] [i?][ε?][u?]。

have a plan to establish a play-ground for kids and a club for the adults in my hometown. This is something I missed a lot in the place where I grew up and that’s the why I have the plan and determination to achieve it.
Establishing a kid’s playground adjacent to a club for grown-up people would not be an easy task. I will need to manage the necessary budget, manpower and financial support to actually do that. I will have to be financially rich and connected with the local authority and political leaders to start the plan I have. Honestly, I have this plan for a very long. When I got admitted in my high school, the realization started popping up in my mind that these are two things that our community is missing although they are very important. I knew that was something pretty tough to achieve, but yet I started fostering this tough plan in my mind.
As I already said, that would be pretty tough as it involves money, space, power, and people’s involvements. There would be lots of obstacles and I would have to face and resolve in order to fulfill the plan I have. The determination and good will along with the prudent decision would be required. If I do not possess a great enthusiasm and strength of mind, it would become almost impossible to achieve it.

A plan in your life (that is not related to work or study)
You should say:
What it was about
When you made it
How it worked
And how you felt about the result
most of the time 大部分时候
a plan of mine
totally on my own 完全靠自己
book hotel rooms 订酒店
a guided tour group 旅行团
do a lot of research
all sorts of information
be desperate to know 急切的想知道
have a blast 很开心
it is pissing down 下大雨
Well, to be honest, I’ve got to say it’s a pretty difficult topic for me, cause you might not know this, but most of the time, it’s my mom who does all the planning for me, especially when it is study related. So if I’ve got to choose a plan of mine and tell you a little bit about it, perhaps I can just bring up the one I did for my trip to Sri Lanka.
In fact, way before last year, I bought Lonely Planet Sri Lanka when it was on sale, you know, it’s a guide book. They do all sorts of destinations. And then there was this one day, I realized that edition I had been having was going out of date soon, cause I saw the new version was coming out soon. So I thought it was time to plan a trip soon. You might not know this but normally I would love to go somewhere totally on my own. By accident one of my friends heard about my idea and she said she wanted to join me. So I booked our tickets and the hotel for the first night. We didn’t choose to go with a guided tour group, so we had to do a lot of research online before hand. Luckily I found a good website called tripadvisor which gave me all sorts of information I was desperate to know.
This Chinese New Year, we finally made it to Colombo, which is the capital. Even now, I’m feeling so lucky that I came up with the idea of travelling cause I really had a blast on that beautiful island. What I liked the best was the trip was quite spontaneous. I didn’t make any specific route before hand, so we were just following our heart the whole time. Apart from that, thank god, I checked the weather and that and successfully avoided the north which was pissing down at the time. Where we went, which is along the southwest coast, was sunny throughout the whole journey. Still though, there was something I didn’t arrange too perfectly. I didn’t pre book the hotels so when we got to each new city, we had to look for one ourselves, and the prices were relatively high as well. If I didn’t spend that much money, I would have probably stayed a bit longer. At the same time, my friend who went along seemed to enjoy herself just as much. Anyway, I think I might crack on a new plan for the next journey hopefully really soon.
雅思口语Part3话题范文:plan in the future
1. What different sorts of personal plans do people usually make in their everyday lives?
Well I’d say it varies a lot between people, because I mean, some people like to make plans for pretty much everything they do, you know, like what to spend their money on, what food to eat, and how to use their free time effectively, whereas other people don’t really make that many plans, and kind of just live life in a carefree manner.
I’d say = I think
pretty much = 差不多
live life in a carefree manner = 悠优哉哉地过生活
2. When a student is doing a big assignment, why is it a good idea to make some plans before they start?
Well first of all, if they didn’t make any plans, then I think it would be very difficult for them to carry out the work in a methodical way, so it’s likely that they would run into a lot of problems. So in other words, I guess what I’m saying is that planning well at the beginning will help a student better understand the requirements of the assignment and therefore give them a good indication of how to manage their time.
run into… 碰到
A good indication of…= a good idea of…(好的指示)
3. In general, what sorts of plans do governments all over the world usually have?
Wow, that’s a pretty tough question, and I’ve never really thought about it before, but I suppose governments around the world have to make all kinds of plans, such as military, economic, and social plans, becausethey’re responsible for the overall well-being of a country.
4. What are some of the major problems facing the whole world today?
That’s a good question, and I’d say that, unfortunately, we seem to be facing quite a number of problems, such as pollution, climate change, unemployment, lack of drinking water,…what else,…um, …oh and social inequality. So these would be some of the main ones, and I’m sure there are more!
5. Who do you think should be responsible for solving these problems?
Well obviously, a lot of responsibility lies with the government, but depending on the problem, I think we all have to take some responsibility if we want to truly get rid of the problems. So taking air pollution as an example, if everyone makes a conscious effort to use environmentally-friendly transport whenever possible, then I think the air quality will improve dramatically.
makes a conscious effort = 自觉努力
6. What do you think is the major environmental problem facing the world today?
Thinking about it, I’d say it’s probably water pollution, because in many parts of the world, clean drinking water is in extremely short supply, and it's a basic necessity for human survival. So if we continue to pollute the water supply, then it’s exacerbating the problem, which could have detrimental consequences in the future.
exacerbating the problem = make the problem worse
detrimental consequences = terrible consequences (非常不利的后果)
OK, I’m gonna talk about the South Africa president- Zuma. There was a time I saw a video of him speaking in public, you know how English is not his first language, but the thing is, he has always wanted to try to speak it. It literally took him half a minute to say the words ‘in the beginning’. He tried so many times and still couldn’t pronounce it. The best part is that every time he failed saying it, he would wiggle his body to defuse the embarrassment. Every single time I saw this video, I would laugh till my belly hurt.
Generally speaking, we would expect the leader of a country to be more serious, you know, at least practice the speech or have a translator with you for the important occasions like that. But the way he behaves, is just very endearing. It's absolutely more fascinating than those who follow the conventional way of delivering a speech.
1. literally adv.
2. wiggle v. 扭动
3. defuse the embarrassment
4. laughed till my belly hurt
5. fascinate v.
Describe a person in the news that you would like to meet
You should say:
who the person is
why s/he is in the news
why you would like to meet this person
I would like to meet Mr Jonathan as he appears in the news for his bestseller. He is a writer and his recent book “The Amazing Riders” has become the bestseller. So, the local news agencies have made reports on him and his reputation is soaring up. Interestingly, Mr Jonathan lives in my locality but I was unaware of his intellectual skills. His bestselling book is the talk of the town and the news agencies, newspapers and magazines are after him to make stories about his book and contribution to the contemporary literature.
I would like to meet Mr Jonathan for some solid reasons. The topmost issue about meeting him is to know about his writing. He writes smoothly and when the readers read the stories, it appears that the events are before them. In fact, I, as a reader of his book, has become his great fan. His narrative style is also different than the other writers. He uses a different tone to describe the events through his writings. Besides, his plots are also interesting and will make you amazed. Before publishing the book, he was not that much familiar in the locality and people knew him as a simple man. But now he has become a celebrity by dint of the news.
I have so many questions for him to ask. If I get the chance to meet him, I will ask him first about his story plots and outlines. Some of his plots are highly interesting and they attract the attention of the readers. Further, I will try to get information about his narrative style. I think he will also share with me that how much time he spends to make a story and where he gets his inspiration to write. These are the initial queries from my side for him.
1. Yoba!
比如她们会说“Do you like to go swimming with us?”
2. Bam chi ga bon-bon.
这句话也可以当形容词或名词用,例如,“I have a girlfriend for 2 years, but no Bam chi ga bon bon at all.”
另外有一个词 hanky-panky 跟 Bam chi ga bon-bon 很像,同样是指一些暧昧的事,例如: “There's something hanky-panky going on in the restroom.”
3. Damn-it boy
例如,“Damn-it boy.”
4. He is not my type.
当二个女人聚在一起总是会对周遭的男生品头论足,“He is not my type.”
5. He is a muscle man.
有些美国女孩子很欣赏那些肌肉很多的男人,她们称之为 muscular type,或是可以说 a muscle man,或是 “He is beefy.” 。如果你跟一个老美说“I have no muscle.” ,人家当然就会听不懂,你应该说“I am not a muscle man.”
I am semi-muscular with 6-pack ab. 6-pack ab 意味着 “six piece of muscle on the abdomen” 就是有六块腹肌的意思,也可以说成 washboard ab.
6. I saw a girl throw herself on him.
另外一句类似的话是,“That girl drapes herself all over him.”
7. You can go commando.
8. There is a big hole in my head.
Describe an intelligent person you know.
You should say:
who this person is
when and where you first met them
what kind of person they are
and explain why you think this person is intelligent.
Ok right then, well the person that I’d like to talk about is one of my university coursemates called Nick, because he’s honestly one of the smartest people I know. And we’ve been friends ever since I started university, because I found myself sitting next to him in our first lecture, and we (kind of) just got talking.
As for what kind of person he is, well um, I guess the best way to describe him would be sociable and likeable, coz I mean, although he’s a super smart guy, he’s not arrogant in the slightest, and he gets on well with pretty much everyone in my year.
Anyway, moving onto why I think he’s intelligent, well first of all, he always does really well in all our exams, you know, like coming top or second in most of them. And what’s amazing is that he doesn’t seem to study (all) that hard, but still manages to do so well. For example, as well as studying, he’s also got a part-time job, which I’m sure must take up quite a bit of his time. So it ‘s really impressive how he’s able to do this without it affecting his studies whatsoever.
And another thing is that whenever the lecturer asks a question, he always knows the answer, and sometimes he’ll just whisper it to me because he feels a bit embarrassed to answer every time!
So yeah, I’d say he’s a really clever guy, and I feel very lucky to have such a good friend.
Notes:
I found myself –
he’s not arrogant in the slightest – 他一点都不自大
he doesn’t seem to study that hard, but still manages to do so well – 他好像不是那么用功学习的,但还是能做得很好。
So it ‘s really impressive – here, “impressive” means 了不起
…without it affecting his studies whatsoever.
(At university, we often say “lecturer” instead of “teacher”)
That’s about it then = 大概就这些
I’d say = I think
He’s always been able to help me whenever I’ve had any difficulties with my studies.
