面试的几种类型

当今各个项目的面试，比较常见的有以下几种类型：

① 面对面（Face-to-Face）；

② 通过即时通讯软件进行面试（如Skype）；

③ 通过录制视频，回答规定的问题，并上传至指定网站；

④ 电话面试。

对中国申请人而言，由于地理位置所限，一般情况下学校不会强制我们与面试官进行面对面的面试。很多学校可能会在面试邮件中，允许申请人选择Face-to-Face或者其他的指定形式。尽管Face-to-Face的面试可以与面试官更充分地交流，然而在口语表达不够好的情况下，却可能适得其反。因此，如果申请人对自己的口语和面试表现不够自信，可以考虑规避Face-to-Face面试形式，选择Skype或者电话面试等形式。

语音不标准，我该怎么办？

英语发音不标准或者有口音，是许多申请人惧怕口语面试的最主要原因之一。口语发音在面试中真有那么重要吗？其实，许多认为自己口语不够好的申请人，可能是高估了语音的重要性。

事实上，面试官对国外申请人说英语可能存在口音这一点，往往是有心理预期的。正如同我们对外国人的汉语口音很宽容，面试官对中国学生英语口音的要求自然也不会跟英语母语者相同。

在口语面试中，面试官更看重的是申请人的语言表达水平。如回答问题时语气是否自然，表达是否流畅，语法是否正确，以及叙事、逻辑是否清晰等等。此处笔者总结了一些面试口语中需要特别注意的事项，供诸位申请人参考：

1) 回答问题时，逻辑框架一定要清晰。千万不要因为紧张或者急于多说一些内容，而把自己的表达弄得颠三倒四、天马行空。不要追求语速，慢慢按逻辑说好自己的预设答案即可。逻辑框架混乱，在面试中是致命的。

2) 不要犯小的语法错误。比如时态、单数第三人称变化、表达中混淆he/she等等。这些小错误在写作中通常都会得到注意，在口语中却很难控制。在与面试官交谈时，这类小错误会非常明显，将影响面试官对申请人口语水平的评价；

3) 与面试官交谈时，语气要自然。面试是一个互动的过程，想象一下日常我们是怎样与人交流、又是用什么样的语气与他人对话的？口语中要保持正常的语速和停顿，对面试官的问题也要有正常的反馈。要避免太过死板地按之前准备的答案，以照本宣科式的语气完成整个面试；

4) 如果时间充足，可以请老师或口语发音好的同学，针对面试内容指导和纠正一下你的发音和语调。不过，若无明显进步，也无需太纠结于此，不要影响自己面试的状态和信心。

留学面试很重要的一个目的就是测试英语听说能力，因此英语薄弱的同学必须复习口语和听力，这方面没有捷径。此外可以做的事情包括：第一，调查面试官是招生官还是教授，由此判断他的问题会偏向什么内容方面；第二，调查面试官的背景、年龄、国籍等，以熟悉他的文化背景和口音。之前我们有一位同学拿到杜克大学商学院的面试，面试官是个俄罗斯教授，这位同学就得提前去熟悉俄罗斯式的英语发音，否则就算同学本身的英语听力很强，一时间听到有口音的英语也未必能回答上来；第三，积极地复习自己的申请材料，准备面经。

如何准备面试？

对于以上四点建议，可能很多申请人会觉得做不到――毕竟英语口语表达的提高不是一蹴而就的事情。然而正如第一段所讲，我们可以通过充分准备来提高自己在面试中的表现，而不是追求短时间内提高自己的口语表达能力。申请中的面试，其实是有很多“套路”的。

首先，我们要熟悉自己简历以及个人陈述中涉及到的经历与内容。面试中的主要问题，都是围绕这两份重要的文书提出的。在准备面试时，要多做一些细节工作，以应对面试官的提问。比如，工作中所遇到的困难或解决过的难题，这些事例可以事先写好；理工科以及博士可能面临的技术面试，如自己做过的项目，用过的模型和方法，这些需要事先做详细的整理；针对可能问到的理论部分，也应该在面试之前做好复习工作。

其次，我们可以通过网络，找一下往年的“面经”，让准备更有针对性。再次，我们可以多搜集面试官本人的信息。申请人在收到面试通知时，会收到一封邮件，里面有面试官的姓名和职位。我们可以通过社交网络（如LinkedIn）来了解其背景、兴趣爱好，挖掘自己和面试官之间的共同点，以便更好地与面试官互动。尤其是申请理工科和博士的同学，了解面试官本人，可以在面试中针对性地提问。比如之前有位同学，和面试官都喜欢古典音乐，这位同学自己是弹钢琴的能手，于是在面试结尾时跟面试官讨论起了钢琴曲，气氛非常融洽。

此外，申请人还需要针对自己申请的学校和项目想出2-3个问题。通常在面试快结束时，面试官都会询问申请人是否有问题要问――这个环节是展示申请人对自己所申请项目的浓厚兴趣的好机会。

以上所涉及到的内容，申请人都可以在面试前充分地准备。此外，我们建议各位申请人在正式面试开始前，多进行几次模拟面试，并在模拟面试中，根据笔者第二部分提到的口语表达相关的四点，来纠正自己表达方面可能存在的问题。
