Dear x,

Acclaimed as a prodigy, I entered into one of China’s Ivy Leagueuniversities at 14 and joined the country’s topmost scientific researchinstitution as a graduate student at 19. Now an experienced engineer at 26, Iwould like to scale still higher intellectual heights by undertaking advancedstudies that I hope would put me firmly on the cutting edge of scientificdevelopment.

I have demonstrated a keen mind since my early childhood. For years, Iconsistently outperformed all of my classmates in such challenging subjects asmathematics, physics and chemistry. I was thus chosen to represent either myschool or my city in a variety of provincial and national contests of academicskills, in which I won numerous prizes. This impressive academic record put meon academic acceleration several times. That not only enabled me to finish myprimary and secondary education in eight instead of the usual twelve years butalso sent me at 14 to a privileged class for the gifted at the ChineseUniversity of Science and Technology, a major cradle of the country’s scientificand technological talents.

After two years of basic training in the gifted class, I chose electricalengineering as my major and computer software programming as my minor, convincedthat expertise in these fields would stand me in good stead in an era of China’srapid economic expansion and technological modernization. As you can see fromthe transcripts of my undergraduate grades, I excelled in both of theseareas.

Upon graduation in 1991, I won easy acceptance into the Institute ofElectronics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences and became a graduate studentat 19, when most Chinese students would be just starting their universityeducation. At this institute, I narrowed my academic interest down and focusedit on the area of human and artificial intelligence, where the courses I tookwere deliberately concentrated. It seemed to me that scientific breakthroughswould next come in this area, which made it both challenging and promising. Ilearned a whole lot about this area in the course if doing my thesis titled “TheRadio Shunting System in Railroad”, for which some experiments were conducted onthe basis of artificial intelligence.

My solid education paid off in my ability to take on a variety ofresponsibilities in China’s burgeoning software industry. After I obtained myMaster’s Degree in Engineering in 1994, I first took up a job with atelecommunication company, where I managed a trunk communication system thatresembled the cellular wireless system. A year later, I joined a softwarecompany to develop CMIS program for China’s Post and TelecommunicationsMinistry. It was a large project, and I made crucial contribution to it byindependently developing and finalizing one subsystem, which proved to be asignificant success and won me profuse appreciation from users. After thecompletion of that project, I have been working for the Japan Brother Ltd. inthe area of software development.

The relative smooth path of my career notwithstanding, I have not had achance to lead a major project, although I have always finished my part of everyproject immaculately. In spite of all my achievements, I feel that I have nottaken the full advantages of my intellectual capabilities. I now wish to pursuestill more advanced studies and thereby obtain an advanced degree so that I canopen more doors and shoulder greater responsibilities.

I believe I have acquired the necessary theoretical framework andsufficient practical experience for further studies. My ability to teach myselfand conduct independent research allows me to attain competence quickly in areasthat I may at first know very little about. I never work just to finish anassignment, but instead I always try conscientiously to improve my knowledge andexpertise through the work I do. In this fashion, I have become seasoned in suchfields as trunking system (telecommunications) and CMIS system (software). Thisquality should help me as I seek to further upgrade my education, particularlyif I have ready access to the seasoned guidance of a strong faculty and theconvenience of state-of-the-art research facilities.

The University of Idaho is well known for its excellence in the E. E field, complete with an accomplished faculty and modern research resources. Theseshould set a good stage for me to exercise my keen mental power and diligence. If I am accepted, I am confident that I can make quick progress in the E. Efield, especially in the areas of artificial intelligence, image processing, wireless communication, neural network and computer networking, which have manycharacteristics in common and share many important principles. Due to the broadapplications of these technologies, I believe the progress we make in theseareas will help shape the future of the mankind. I would like t be at theforefront of such progress.

As I am broadly grounded in EE and computer science, you may find mequalified or more qualified for advanced studies in areas other than those Ihave mentioned. If so, I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me knowany suggestions that you may have.

I wish to assure you that I have the necessary English language skills tocomplete advanced studies in your Ph. D. program. I generally read or writeEnglish without any difficulty. I have, over the years, not only read academicor professional materials in English avidly but also memorized the wholeEnglish-Chinese dictionary. There may be room for improvement in my oral Englishand English listening comprehension. But I am sure my English proficiency issufficient for me to undertake advanced studies and research. Besides, I believeI can improve my oral English by leaps and bounds once I start to live in anEnglish-speaking environment. All that I need to do is to set my mind free.

I plan to return to China after the completion of my Ph. D. studies eitherto teach at one of the larger Chinese universities or to lead a high-techcorporation.

Yours sincerely,

Dear _,

In capacity as Professor of Mathematics at Fudan University I'm writing to recommend Mr. Wang Gesintosyour PhD program in Computer Science. I have known Mr. Wang since his sophomore year of college and have acted as his thesis advisor and mentor. In my experience he is a gifted and diligent student and an admirably hard worker.

Wang is an impressive student because he has been forced to overcome the significant challenge of a serious illness during his freshman year. When I first met Wang in my Discrete Math class he did not appear to be anything special to me. While his exam scores were good they were not as high as I would now expect of him. What I didn't know then was that due to his illness Wang was attempting to take all of the difficult early mathematics courses at one time including Discrete Mathematics Advanced Mathematics Linear Algebra and Possibilities. While most students found preparing for just one set of these exams difficult Wang was overwhelmed by four of them. But in the end he achieved an impressive score on the final exam which made me conscious of his unusual determination he demonstrates when confronting difficult challenges.

Mr. Wang and I have often talked about a variety of mathematics and computer science concepts and problems. During these discussions I always found him to be delightfully intelligent. Not only does he quickly understand the concepts and problems presented to him he is able to analyze these problems and present solutions. But perhaps most important is that Wang's thinking is intensely rigorous. When looking at any question he carefully scrutinizes it and if he finds any uncertain issues he clears them up immediately. I believe this kind of thought is essential to become an excellent computer programmer.

Serving as his thesis advisor I had a first-hand opportunity to observe the way in which Wang's mind works. In his senor thesis Mr. Wang mainly discussed two challenging questions in regards to″ANN″. In our books in China knowledge of ANN and its uses are very rare. Few people in China have studied this topic and consequently the materials that are available on ANN are limited. Working on this difficult project not only did Mr. Wang rise to the challenge but he went above and beyond the call of duty to analyze his secondary sources and test them for accuracy in practice. In this way he found mistakes in the book that we use. His diligence and hard work made me extremely proud of him.

Mr. Wang is an intelligent motivated and industrious individual. Teaching and advising him has been a delightful pleasure. I know that if given the chance to study abroad in America he will arm himself to become a great programmer he dreams of being. He has the intelligence and background to achieve these goals - now all he needs is the opportunity. I ask that you look upon his application favorably and grant him a chance to study in your university.

Yours sincerely,

xuexila

(1)填好签证申请表并将4张近期照片贴在上面;

(2)护照;

(3)翻译并认证过的无犯罪公正书的原件及复印件;

(5)由申请人已被录取的私立或公立学校负责人签发的录取通知;

(6)申请人学位证书翻译件的公证证书;

(8)500课时西班牙语水平;

(9)西班牙住宿证明;

(10)境外医疗保险;

(13)户口本原件及复印件;

Dear _,

As a 23-year-old aspiring student who has grown up and received hiseducation in pace with the evolution of China's market economy over the past twodecades,I deem myself in possession of many professional qualities forundertaking a career in advanced marketing and business management. I believethat I have demonstrated more creativity, management skills,English languageproficiency, and the courage to accept challenges than most of my peers on anumber of important occasions-being selected from a large number of competitorsto study at _ University of _ on an exchange program, winning prize in the _ forUniversity Students, launching my own company upon completing my undergraduateprogram. My interest and my demonstrated abilities show me unmistakably that totake up a lifelong career in high-level marketing management will be veryappropriate for me because that is where my potential lies. In order to scalenew heights academically and to lay a solid foundation for my later-day careerdevelopment,I would like to apply for a Master's program in internationalmarketing at the prestigious Business School in _ University. For me,this is aself-conscious attempt to face challenge and to transcend my former self. Iexpect to be initiated into a first-rate academic environment in which myacademic foundation is consolidated and my business potential isstrengthened.

It was in _ Technology and Business School that I completed myundergraduate education, majoring in marketing. As an academic discipline, marketing fascinated me for its increasingly important strategic role in modernmanagement and for its interdisciplinary character,as it encompasses managementscience, psychology, sociology, statistics, etc. From the very outset of myundergraduate program,I realized the importance of seeking a comprehensivedevelopment,on both academic and personal levels,in order to become a seniormanagement professional in the future. Therefore, throughout my undergraduateprogram,I endeavored to make full exploitation of all the available educationalresources of my university to improve my academic performance. An examination ofmy academic transcript will indicate that I have maintained a year-by-yearascendance in my study. Apart from that,I have also been very active inextracurricular activities and learned German and _ languages besides English. My ability to perform independent research was cultivated and improved throughwriting my internship treatise and graduation thesis, both of which were given a95-point score, the highest score in my class. In particular,my thesis On theMarketing of Hi-Tech Products,by focusing on the major business risks involvedin the marketing of hi-tech products and on the short and uncertain life cycleof those products, was rated “Excellent” for detailed analyses and novelperspectives that I offered in it.

The most important part of my undergraduate graduate program is definitelymy short but memorable stay in _. As a junior,I was selected through acompetitive screening test to embark on a 4-month exchange program with _'s _Polytechnic on the strengths of my distinguished academic performance,Englishproficiency and computer skills. This exciting and memorable experience provedextremely beneficial to me-I gained marked improvement in my English, wasexposed to a totally different life style and educational system, and achievednew understanding of the concept of marketing. Plunged into a new academicenvironment,I demonstrated a creative and a critical spirit rare in Chinesestudents, and won appreciation from my _ professors. In attending the courseHigh Tech Marketing,my team members and I spent the entire semester verifyingthe plausibility of a business proposal that I raised but was rejected by my _advisor. Under my insistence and through my continued refinement,my businessproposal achieved eventual success and has been incorporated into the overallbusiness plan of _ Company. In another course International Business Plan, myfruitful collaboration with my _ classmates led to our team's winning of theunprecedented full mark in the final evaluation of our course project. I alsoaccumulated important experience of performing group research in the eAcademyproject headed by Dr. _,in which I was responsible for the marketing planningof the enterprise.

Upon completing my undergraduate program, with the support of my friendsand family members,I launched my own _ Trade Company that deals in medicalequipment and provides hospital management consulting service. In doing this,Ibecame one of the few Chinese graduates who established their own business. Mybusiness impulse originated from two sources. The first is my participation inthe _ for University Students in which my team won Excellence Award (myresponsibility was to formulate marketing plans for our “Optimum” Company and toconduct market surveys)。 Another is my internship as a senior student at ane-commerce company during which I planned and organized market investigations inpreparation for the marketing of the company's latest product-HospitalManagement Information System. I saw myself as possessing necessary businessmanagement skills and marketing potential.

Managing my own company, making real business plans and designing realmarketing strategies, all those have allowed me to apply my knowledge and to tapmy business potential. In making this bold move,I wish to develop a clearunderstanding of what I am good at and to chart the course of my future careerdevelopment. My present application for a Master's program at your esteemeduniversity is motivated by my need to receive further academic input that willenable me to develop my company into a major enterprise.

According to modern management theories, successful enterprises must behighly customer-oriented and marketing is no longer the job of a particularfunctional department of an enterprise. As a developing country with a plannedeconomy for many decades,China lacks a well-developed science of management andmarketing, and the current marketing practices are far from mature as marketingas a standard academic discipline is only of recent origin. Yet this may prove ablessing in disguise for me as I am located at the crucial point of China'sdevelopment in marketing theory and practice and I will enjoy greater chances ofsuccess. In my proposed degree program,I would like to focus on the marketingof Hi-tech products and on the marketing of multinational companies undercultural pluralism. The relationship between marketing and cultural pluralismhas long been my major research concern and during my study in _ I have alreadypaid special attention to the impact of cultural differences between East andWest on marketing. In my future studies,I will be exposed a greater culturaldiversity, which I believe will further facilitate my study and research. It isan art to deal with the subtle relationship between culture and marketing and Ineed to gain more understanding and experience in this regard.

Young as I am,I am fully aware of the transitory nature of life and allthat I can do is to race against time to maximize knowledge and expertise and toenrich the value of my life within the limited span of my life. Through myfuture study,I wish to develop myself into a marketing specialist. This is anobjective, and I am in possession of the necessary foundation, academic andprofessional, and the potential for realizing this objective.

Yours sincerely,

Dear xx,

Due to the comprehensiveness of China’s “reform and open” policies, economics plays an increasingly important role in the development of its globalposition. Though more and more companies built, management of companies cannotcatch up with the development of the companies. Management is a burgeoning fieldin China,so I hope I can acquire more modern knowledge on management inEngland.

The roots of my strong interest in business can be traced back to mychildhood. My father was among the first of China’s new breed of modernentrepreneurs. As a young girl,it was inspirational hearing about his businessventures, and meeting the varied and interesting circle of entrepreneurs. Mymother was also involved in business as an accountant, helping him with simplecalculations. And so it was early in my life that I hoped I,also, would somedaybe able to enter the realm of business.

With the time of growing up,I preferred reading books to satisfy mycuriosity. I never ceased to contemplate over the questions I encountered.Subjects on business and management became a special fascination to me and myknowledge of psychology as well as interest in this field was increasingrapidly.

As a high school student in China,I had to concentrate on the CollegeEntrance Examination (CEE),even so,books not related to the exams were neverexcluded from my life. Unfortunately when sitting in the exam in June,20xx,Iwas so nervous that I didn’t score well in the CEE exam. I enrolled in thedepartment of Computer Science in Zhejiang College of Traditional ChineseMedicine. Any attempt to persuade myself to focus on my major turned out to be afailure at the beginning of my college life. After several terms,I realizedthat I would never be interested in being a programmer or an engineer. At thatmoment,I lost my direction and objectives.

My persistence in reading saved me from the dark situation. As a matter offact,I enjoyed reading the books included Encyclopedia American, and some booksabout management by Peter ker. I began to notice something interesting:Why somecompanies can produce more than others? Why some company can sell more thanothers? Why some companies can build up but others cannot when facing the samedifficulties?

With the questions in my mind,I started to read many relevant books. I waslucky to read the book “Jack:Straight from the Gut”by Jack Welch,in Which JohnA. Byrne makes a clear illustration that the management is important for acompany. When I was a junior,I ran a bookshop by myself near my school. Ishould manage not only the finance in the shop but also the employees in my shopeven made some strategies to enlarge the business in my shop to hold on the runthe shop. From this,my interpersonal skills and the capacity in business hasbeen greatly developed, definitely I was increasingly interested in what I wasdoing. By December,20xx,I had finally determined to take business managementas my career instead of IT. To accumulate more relevant knowledge,I strived togain more practical work experience in some big companies.

Fortunately,as a senior,I began by conducting an internship in theArchitecture Company in Zhejiang Province. Over six months,I worked as anassistant of the manager to harmonize the relationship between the differentdepartments in this company and to draft some management system, which broadenedmy perspective of management conditions and business performance in differentindustries. The experience showed me that management is much more important thanthat of I thought in big companies. After graduation,I continued my work inthis company. In May,20xx,the company offered me an opportunity to participatein an training program held by a famous management school. Through in-depthdiscussions with teachers and students in the classes, they all encouraged me topursue my future career in management field because of my intellectual abilityand the brand new ideas I mentioned.

During the short period of training,I realized that pursuing a higherdegree in management is a wise choice for me now. Lancaster, with its excellencein management, represents the perfect fit for my needs. In your challengingenvironment,I can build the required foundation of knowledge related tomanagement to achieve my goals. I am firmly convinced that your admission willbe my first step of success. With this in mind,I hereby submit my application, and await your favorable reply.

Yours sincerely,

xx
