A teacher of mine once told me that if you were good at art, you would be good at accounts. It was hard to find his logic at first, but having spent two years doing GCSE Art and a further two on Accounts A Level, it all began to make sense. The course that I would like to do at university is Business Accounts or Accounts and Finance. I feel that the two subjects combine well with one another and on many occasions I have founds that my knowledge of one has helped me with the other. Studying Maths and Business has also provided me with logic and a greater understanding of various concepts and methods. I have become more flexible in identifying what concepts need to be used and when, thus, helping me achieve the greatest results possible. I have the ability to pick up skills and knowledge quickly and am independent enough to conduct my own study and research. On many occasions at college I have taught myself various chapters in maths in order to remain ahead of the class.

My main ambition for the future is to become an Accountant Executive or a Financial Advisor. I am hoping university will provide me with an understanding of the business world as well as offering me a wide range of choices and connections after my course. However, I have also helped to teach mathematics. I have taken part in a project at school where we taught younger pupils the basics of maths. I also helped to tutor many of my classmates in preparation for exams, which they found helpful. I enjoyed teaching and so this will be my third choice of career.

Outside of studying, one of my many passions is Art. I enjoy visiting art galleries and studying art in depth. My favourite type of art is symbolism and surrealism and my favourite artists are Dali and Escher as they both deal with ‘double possibilities’. Recently, however, I have developed a new interest in contemporary art, of which I have done a number of paintings on canvas on commission for friends and family who have all been pleased with my work.

Most of my spare time on the weekend is taken up by my part time job as a sales associate at Skechers USA, Bullring, Birmingham. I have been working at Skechers since the opening of the store in September and am one of only two of the original members of staff left. This is an advantage for me as I can offer the highest level of customer service and have a good knowledge of the overall running of the store, which makes me committed, reliable and adaptable as I have found that I need to adjust myself to the many changes that have occurred over the year. My job has also taught me to be more tolerable and patient with others.

I have thoroughly enjoyed college and believe that university is the next step for me. College and my part time job have changed me as a person. They have given me a greater sense of independence and success. I feel that college has really made me grow and has introduced me to a wider range of people. I have opened up to people more and am now a better team player as I have learnt to listen to others and take in their opinions. 西班牙研究生留学申请要求和申请材料

一、语言要求

一、证件类

Literature unites everything that I find exhilarating about life, and most of my spare time is taken up with reading. To me, literature and the written word is mankind's greatest achievement, which is why I am determined to dedicate my life to its study. I am not content with simply reading a text, as I have a hunger to learn everything I can about what I read - how it was written; why it was written; what it means; its place in literature as a whole.

I read a catholic range of literature. I particularly enjoy Romantic poetry, as I find it to be an intriguing example of how literature can be used to make a stand against society's established codes, as poets rebelled against previous literary traditions and, contrary to the doctrines of neo-classical literature, focused on emotions and on the individual. Another example of such a rebellion, and another area of fascination to me, is the dystopian novel of the twentieth century. My favourite examples include Orwell's '1984' and 'Animal Farm', Golding's 'Lord of the Flies' , Bradbury's 'Fahrenheit 451' and Huxley's 'Brave New World'. Many of these great works were inspired by, and reacted against, the rise of political extremists during the first half of the century. These works are also often highly satirical, a style which I admire and which has lead me to read works such as Pope's 'The Rape of the Lock', Heller's 'Catch-22' and Ben Elton's cynically satirical plays. I also appreciate the novels of Jane Austen, especially the witty Gothic satire 'Northanger Abbey'.

I see literature as both a cause and an effect of history, and so I study history in order to fully appreciate the context of a piece of writing. I find it fascinating how one's knowledge of a historical period can alter one's interpretation of a text. Also, I believe that the study of art can contribute to one's understanding of literary background, for example in the way that Blake's paintings can give an insight into his mind, and thus his poetry. I find that my study of maths is useful as it contributes to my logical and analytical skills, which are vital for the critical appraisal of literature.

At the end of year 12 I attended a ten-day residential course at Eton College to study English literature. The course was designed to be of the same intensity, and of a similar level, to university studies. These were ten of the best days of my life, and made me realise that an English course at university would be perfect for me, and that I would be perfect for it. This course also allowed me to refine my interests in the subject, and to look in detail at areas hitherto untouched-upon in my state school education.

I have completed a work experience placement at a local architects' office, which I feel taught me many life-skills. Seeing the enthusiasm of the people I worked with showed me that it is important to pursue a career in a subject you love. Therefore, although I do not have a definite idea of where I wish to work in the future, I would like to find employment in an area directly related to English, such as in publishing or journalism.

I take part in extra-curricular activities that I feel aid me in my English studies. Being a member of a debating society has increased my discussion abilities, and has taught me how to argue my point while retaining an open mind and being aware of the opinions and interpretations of others. I am a volunteer for a group that helps less-able children to read, as I feel that the ability to appreciate the written word is the most fundamental life-skill that a child can have. 全日制研究生将全部自费入学。从广东省学位与研究生教育工作会议上了解到，今年起，撤销国务院学位委员会批准的学位授权点，以后每年对学位授权点进行一次“洗牌”。

学位授权点每年都要“洗牌”

省教育厅相关部门负责人表示，这将改变学位授权点基本上有增无减的现状，向学校放权建立退出机制，还有利于授权点的结构调整和质量保证。

据统计，目前广东省高校的博士学位授权单位有15个，硕士学位授权单位24个；此外，有一级学科博士学位授权点139个、一级学科硕士学位授权点206个。

据悉，从今年起，广东作为全国4个试点省份（还包括上海、江苏和安徽）之一，将开展博士、硕士学位授权点动态调整。本次动态调整主要指，撤销国务院学位委员会批准的学位授权点。包括撤销博士或硕士学位授权一级学科、博士或硕士学位授权二级学科、博士或硕士专业学位授权类别。

省教育厅相关部门负责人说，“这次调整将主要是在授权点比较多的.学校，比如中大、华工、暨大、华师、深大、广大，这些学校调整的空间大，但一些授权点比较少或者学科比较单一的高校就很难有所调整。”此外，一些新兴学科也将有更多机会成为学位授权点。

不过，在调整路径上有一些限制。“广东研究生专业学位占比仅40%，因此鼓励学术学位授权点向专业学位授权点调整。”此外，博士授权点可以调到博士或硕士授权点，但是硕士授权点不能调到博士授权点，不允许借调整“升级”。该负责人表示，第一步将以高校自主调整为主，未来会有教育部门相应的评估和抽检，对调整机制加以完善。

取消研究生学费“双轨制”

记者从会议上获悉，近日，省教育厅、省发改委和省财政厅联合下发的关于深化研究生教育改革的实施意见的文件。文件中提到，对全日制和非全日制研究生招生计划实行统一管理，全日制研究生招生计划取消国家计划和自筹经费“双轨制”。这也意味着，以后研究生将全部自费入学。

此外，探索建立研究生学费标准动态调整机制，适时调整研究生学费标准，按照优质优价原则，制订合理的差异化收费标准。，广东有高校开始进行研究生教育收费试点，采用国家计划和自筹经费“双轨制”，同时伴以奖助学金奖励机制。

9月起省财政生均拨款提高

硕士生12900元提高到13690元

博士生17200元提高到18200元

I always think very practically, but do not always like to think about the practical. I play the saxophone almost every day, but feel most like an artist when deduction is my instrument. I spent one year at a college where I did not belong and two years taking classes irrelevant for my major, but I have no regrets about my undergraduate experience. I am incredibly passionate about my interests, but cannot imagine being interested in only one passion for an entire lifetime.

I love the Yankees, but do not hate the Red Sox. I love sports, but hate the accompanying anti-intellectual culture. I may read the newspaper starting from the back, but I always make my way to the front eventually. I am liberal on some issues and conservative on others, but reasonable about all of them. Whether as an eight year- old gluing together a model car or an adolescent assembling a bookshelf in woodworking class, I thrived on the challenges of precise and meticulous tasks. Throughout high school I have been intrigued by the sciences, but it was not until I read about late-breaking discoveries and research in the field of genetics that my interests in science intensified. When I entered the University of British Columbia (UBC), I naturally chose to specialize in Cell Biology and Genetics.

In my sophomore year at UBC, I first began to seriously consider dentistry as a career. At that time, I began to appreciate the important role that dentistry played in my life. Four years earlier, I began an orthodontic treatment program with Dr. Junni Wang to correct a severe crowding problem with my teeth. Both before and during the treatment, I was a most reluctant participant; not many teenagers look forward to braces filling their mouth during their last two years of high school, and I was no different.

However, at every monthly check-up for three-and-a-half years the office staff had nothing but kind words of encouragement and optimism. Now after the completion of the treatment I had reason to smile. Dr. Wang helped turn me from a shy adolescent who feared smiling into a confident, outgoing young man. His skills not only brought back my smile, but also my sense of confidence in all aspects of my life. Whereas once I feared drawing attention to myself and thus shied away from leadership posts and debates, now I am a completely different person. Hoping to feel as satisfied and gratified as Dr. Wang must have felt in improving not only my smile but my entire way of life, I look forward to improving the oral health of patients on a daily basis and participating in dentistry’ s friendly, team-oriented work environment.

After this preliminary ‘ patient-doctor’ exposure to dentistry, I substantially increased my involvement in the field to determine if dentistry really was for me. After speaking to a couple of professors in the UBC Faculty of Dentistry asking them about research opportunities, I found a topic that interested me. After taking many water samples from the University Dental Clinic and quantifying the amounts of endotoxin (lipopolysaccahride) in those samples with an Limulus Abeocyte Lysate test, I prepared to publish dentistry’ s first account of this type of experiment. I conducted the study over a 16-week span (Jan.-Apr.‘ 98), and the research work counted as 3.0 credits towards my undergraduate degree. Because the vast majority of my work was self-directed, I submitted my findings for evaluation by the faculty in a 32-page report with 46 references, and I also defended my methods before a panel of professors. Impressed by the findings and results, Dr. Putnins will use my study as a key component of a journal article he is currently preparing for the Journal of Dental Research (JDR). The school also submitted an abstract of my findings for presentation at the upcoming 77th General Session of the International Association of Dental Research (IDAR) to be held at Vancouver, Canada. I am keenly looking forward to this unique opportunity to have my work appear before distinguished members of the dental research community. My positive research experience definitely helped reinforce my goal of becoming a dentist.

In addition, my employment as a Canada Customs Inspector has helped me improve my level of social awareness and helped me develop qualities I can usefully apply to dentistry.
