Dear classmates,

Every one of us, rich or poor, should at least have one or two good friends. My friends will listen to me when I want to speak, will wipe my eyes when I cry, will take care of me when I am sick, and my friends will go together with me side by side through this journey of life.

As students, we could share more time with our friends. The friendship in our young hearts is pure, fresh and simple. I often feel very lucky to have a lot of good friends. Especially when I had Justin as one of my best friends. Justin was my English teacher from the USA. I met him in when I was a student who could only speak very little English. Justin was a vivid young man with a bright smile on his face, and he always had his special way to make the class active and attractive.

He taught us English by telling stories, playing games, singing songs, and even dancing. I could still remember very clearly that one afternoon when we fin-ished our class, we went to some other classes to sing songs for them, just like what people do in the states on Christmas Eve.

It was so interesting and unforgettable. Justin was an excellent teacher, because he taught us not only how to study English well, but also the way to find out the beauty of the world and the way to be angels to others' lives. I know there wasfriendship and pure love in our hearts. Facing this valuable emotion neither nationality nor age was important, the real importance lay in faith, under-standing, and care. Justin is the best friend I have ever had, and I know I will cherish those days of staying together with him as the best part of my memory.

Our character, basically, is a composite of our habits. “Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny,” the maxim goes.

Habits are powerful factors in our lives. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character and produce our effectiveness or ineffectiveness.

As Horace Mann, the great educator, once said, “Habits are like a cable. We weave a strand of it everyday and soon it cannot be broken.” I personally do not agree with the last part of his expression. I know habits can be learned and unlearned. But I also know it isn't a quick fix. It involves a process and a tremendous commitment.

Those of us who watched the lunar voyage of Apollo 11 were transfixed as we saw the first men walk on the moon and return to earth. But to get there, those astronauts literally had to break out of the tremendous gravity pull of the earth. More energy was spent in the first few minutes of lift-off, in the first few miles of travel, than was used over the next several days to travel half a million miles.

Habits, too, have tremendous gravity pull- more than most people realize or would admit. Breaking deeply imbedded habitual tendencies such as procrastination, impatience, criticalness, or selfishness that violate basic principles of human effectiveness involves more than a little willpower and a few minor changes in our lives. “Lift off” takes a tremendous effort, but once we break out of the gravity pull, our freedom takes on a whole new dimension.

Like any natural force, gravity pull can work with us or against us. The gravity pull of some of our habits may currently be keeping us from going where we want to go. But it is also gravity pull that keeps our world together, that keeps the planets in their orbits and our universe in order. It is a powerful force, and if we use it effectively, we can use the gravity pull of habit to create the cohesiveness and order necessary to establish effectiveness in our lives.

In spite of this, humans cannot live without earth. They live on the earth, drink the sweet water, and enjoy the sunshine, the air, the sky, the fruit; the grains utilize the energy and so on. In a word, the human being cannot live without nature, and Mother Nature makes us grow stronger.

I do not like the word “Pet”, but preferring the word “Animal” instead. I have been loving animal since I was just a little boy. When thinking of the “Pet Fashion”, I always feel much annoyed. For the animals will be given a shackle and lose their liberty if they become someone's pets. Their natural attribution can be deprived, too.

Up to now, relying on their scientific power, the human have opened up too much and over developed nature, in order to fill up their growing appetites of wealth. They destroy the balance of nature, however, they don't realize, their own development and existence will be threatened. Therefore, our sights should be focused on nature and we should try to develop the concept of “keeping human and nature in unity”.

We should lay emphasis on our education with consider cultural and natural emotion. To use the vivid example to wake up the conscience in people's hearts.

To love nature is to love our mankind. As the new generation who enter the new century, we should make efforts to love and respect nature, to treat it well and protect it. At last, we have the night to enjoy it.

friendship is a kind of treasure in our lives. it is actually like a bottle of wine, the longer it is kept, the sweeter it will be. it is also like a cup of tea. when we are thirsty, it will be our best choice, but when we have enough time to enjoy ourselves, it is also the most fragrant drink.

大家早上好!我是日坛中学初二3班的学生宋洪扬，我今天演讲的题目是《梦想》。

梦想，从古至今，无数的人们在酸甜苦辣中编制着梦想。在黑夜，梦想是时暗时明的火光，带给人们忽远忽近的希望。每个人的心底都有属于自己的梦想，它漂浮在想象和期待之中，是人们心中孜孜不倦地追求。那些光想不做出实际行动的人，他们的人生只是在虚度光阴，而为了梦想去奋斗的人，他们的人生是绚丽多彩的。

你们知道吗?梦想，只有靠自己的努力、汗水，才能实现。说得近一些，记得那是在我十岁左右，我们家邻居家有个高三的大哥哥，曾经，我问过他：“你的梦想是什么?”他说：“我的梦想和现在大多数学生一样，考上一个很好的大学，然后有一个幸福、有钱的生活。”我当时还觉得这个梦想很低俗，但现在想想看，这个梦想也不是那么容易实现的，起码“有钱”没那么容易。他每天几乎都在学习，而且从不马虎，有很多个半夜十二点，他的房间还亮着灯。他就这样奋斗了一年，功夫不负有心人，他考上了全国一线重点大学，我想在以后的人生中他会如愿以偿吧!

再说得远一些，邓亚萍，大家应该对她不陌生吧，世界乒乓球冠军，但你们知道，在冠军背后，又有多少心酸和汗水吗?她梦想着有朝一日能够在世界赛场上大显身手。却因为身材矮小，手腿粗短而被拒于国家队的大门之外。但她并没有气馁，而是把失败转化为动力，苦练球技，持之以恒的努力终于催开了梦想的花蕾——她如愿以偿站上了世界冠军的领奖台。所以我认为：没有可笑梦想，只有不去实现梦想的可笑的人。我也有一个自己的梦想，从小时候，它就深深刻在我的心中。

当一名歌手是我从小的梦想，我想通过自己的努力成为歌手，让家里人过得幸福，虽然我出生平凡，但我会通过努力让自己的人生不再平凡，即使在这跳通往梦想的道路上有众多的荆棘阻拦，有许多的挫折和困难，但我相信自己能行，既然选择了这个梦想，那就要去不断实现它。每当你回味梦想时，路上的心酸、挫折、伤心都回消散，虽然过程艰苦，但它会让你的人生更加充实，只有经历困难和挫折，才能实现自己的梦想。虽然现在还没有实现这个梦想，但我坚信，迟早有一天，我坚信我的梦想一定会含苞待放。

我的家乡在中国的第二大岛―海南岛。这里常年炎热，属于热带季风气候。海南的特产是椰子。椰子不仅用途很广，而且具有很高的经济价值。椰子树可是个宝树呢。它周身上下，无不可用。

椰子树高大挺拔，最高的大约可达5~6米。椰子树干浑圆粗壮，又长又直，靠顶部才长叶子。椰子树多在春天开花，夏天结果。

椰子树干又长又直，可作栋梁之才。乡下人盖房子，很多就用椰子树干为屋梁，还有用椰子树干作为桥梁或造船筏的。老椰树树干质地坚硬，纹理美观，可制作精美的家具。椰子叶，嫩的常用来包裹糯米糕点，老的可以用来做扫把、织席子，听说椰子叶席古时候还是进贡给皇帝的珍品!

椰果用处就更多了。椰子初长时是绿色的，随着椰子的成熟，就会渐渐转为淡青色，最后干了变成褐色，就成了老椰子。椰子变黄之前俗称为椰青，这个时候，果皮和壳都很脆嫩，很容易破开。这时的椰汁，清甜可口，是夏天最好的饮料。椰青里的肉很嫩，味道十分香甜。海南海口罐头厂首创的“天然椰子汁”就是椰奶加工而成的。椰果老了，用途就更广了。它的皮(椰棕)可以用来做绳子、刷子、毯子、坐垫。椰壳可以用来做茶壶、茶杯、碗。椰壳经加工后制成的椰雕工艺，在古代被称作“天南贡品”，受到称赞。现在海南的椰雕工艺已有一千多个品种，椰雕工艺品早已驰名海内外了。老椰肉又厚又硬，虽然味道不太鲜美，但可以做成椰酱或椰茸，还可以榨油，也是制造肥皂和化妆品的原料。椰子树可真是一棵宝树!
