Dear _,
With the approach of new century, the developing China is requiring better trained and more highly educated men and women than ever before in history. In order to make more contributions to the society and, at the same time, satisfy my keen interest in science, I am looking forward to beginning my graduate study. I heard of Case Western Reserve University as early as when I was an undergraduate student. She is one of the most highly regarded universities in the world and is an ideal place for ambitious youth.
I plan to study for Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Case Western Reserve University with special interests in metabolism, macromolecular synthesis, and protein crystal growth. I have had plentiful preparations. First, when being an undergraduate in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Tsinghua University, I got very extensive and intensive education. I took many courses on chemistry and the related subjects, and earned high scores for most of them. Second, my major, Polymer, can be put into good use in Biochemistry programs because Polymer is closely related with biological Macromolecule. Third, I have working experience that enriches my theory and laboratory skills.
From 1990 to now, I have been engaged as an Assistant Engineer by the Research institute, Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Corporation (RIBYPC). In the first year, I was in charge of a 5-litre reactor for polymerization of Carboxylated Butadiene-Styene Latex. Then I was transferred to another research group to synthesize PET/PHB copolymer, a kin of polyester, which has the property of Liquid Crystal. I am the assistant head of the group. We can prepare the novel polymer with high molecule weight and excellent property in a 2-litre stainless steel reactor. During this monomers, with purity of more than 99.99%; this made my leader very satisfied.
More than four years of working experiences expand my capacity. I often make use of NMR, X-ray, DSC and other instrumental methods for research. Among them, I am most skilled in NMR reactors, I have experiences on solving problems of Engineering and Mechanics. What is more, I am familiar with computer operation and some application software. The above information about my specialty may be helpful for you to evaluate me.
It is said that the 21st century will be the age of Life Science. I hope to enter the esteemed Case Western Reserve University to face this challenge. I am confident tat I shall be an excellent fellow. After completing my graduate study, I would like to return to my homeland and make use of my knowledge to serve the people.
By the way, I would like to give thanks to my parents. Being their oldest son, I am offered the most formal education and the deepest love. I never forget the 18-year’s life with them. Twelve years in the countryside and six years in Shengli Oil Field bestowed me the character of diligence, resolution, and perseverance, as well as the deep love of nature and life. I am also indebted to my dear wife. Without her never-ended encouragement and support in these years, I could not become closer and closer to the gate of the eminent Case Western Reserve University.
Yours sincerely,

留学生要及时变更地址,在10天内要向学校和DHS(Department of Homeland Security)报告。
Dear Sir/Madam:
In the capacity of the former dean of “Dalian Management School” of Dalian University of Technology(DUT), I am writing with pleasure to recommend Mr. Cai to your esteemed university. I got to know him personally when he was taking the course--Methodology of Management Research (or Methods of Management as stated in his transcripts), a course I taught, concerning basic research methods, especially quantitative approach to management research. Then he took one of my other courses--Advanced Strategic Management. Mr. Caleb showed great aptitude on both courses and he got 78 on both, which seem a bit lower, but if you take the difficulty of the test papers and my strict grading into account, you will understand why such scores are still among the top five. Undoubtedly, he got excellent scores on other courses and ranked among the top 5% of his class after the first year of graduate study.
To my knowledge, Mr. Cai is not only strong in academics, but also in sports and social activities. He was the captain of the soccer team of graduateschool of DUT and led the team to play in the soccer league of our university for two successive years. He was also one of the main founders of the first academic club--“Management Forum” of the “Dalian Management School” of DUT.
After I left DUT, he still keeps in touch with me from time to time and I am pleased to see that he proved his outstanding capability in both research and teaching position. Therefore I feel very delighted when he told me he would like to pursue his advanced studies in your honored program. I
am confident that Mr. Caib will contribute greatly to your program as well as he did in the DUT. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need more information.
Truly, yours XXX

Dear Sir or Madam:
As a chemistry professor with the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, I have the honor to recommend Mr. XXX to study chemistry at your university.
A postgraduate educational institution, the CAS Graduate School is the school where all postgraduates from all research institutes within the CAS system must undergo basic course studies for the first year. It was in this capacity that Mr. X came to the school and became my student. In my contact with him for one year or more, I was deeply impressed by Mr. X's performance. During the one-year period, I taught him three basic professional courses, namely, Quantum Chemistry, Quantum Chemical Calculation, and Experiment in HPLC. The first two courses were very difficult theoretical courses for many students but Mr. X showed very solid theoretical basis in both of them. This, plus his strong thirst for knowledge and hardworking spirit, left a very deep impression on me. Finally he got more than 90 marks for both. But examinations were not his ultimate goal. It was strong desire for knowledge that motivated his hard study. When the study of the subjects was over, Mr. Hu would fetch me on vacations to discuss about Quantum Chemistry. During the discussions I got to further know his unique and deep understanding on many pioneering issues in the field. Meanwhile I got to know his desire for chemical research as his future career. It was really very pleasing for me that such an excellent student like him made such a professional choice.
Mr. X has not only achieved prominent results in theoretical studies, but has made extraordinary performance in experiment lessons. For example the Experiment in HPLC lesson I taught was one of the important experiment lessons consuming many class hours. It called for the operation of many instruments, such as HPLC, IR and UV. In this lesson Mr. X was displayed conscientiousness and carefulness He was good at making observations and finding problems from phenomena. Such a thinking quality made his experiment reports wonderful or even of certain scientific value.
Although I have had contacts with Mr. Hu for only one year, I feel that Mr. X is a student of great potentiality academically. Learning that he is planning to further his studies in the United States today, I am very pleased to recommend him to your university and sincerely hope that you will accept his application.
Yours Sincerely

Department of the SPECIAL CLASS GIFTED for YOUTHS
University of Science and Technology
XX, XX XXXXXX, P.R. China
July 1, XXXX
Dear Sir or Madam:
I take great pleasure in recommending XXX, one of my favorite students, for admission into your distinguished graduate program.
Mr. X was admitted in XXXX at 14 years of age into the SPECIAL CLASS for the GIFTED YOUTHS, my university's unique program that caters to the intellectual needs of unusually talented Chinese youngsters. It was a rare privilege he earned with his nearly impeccable academic performance through the years of his elementary and secondary school.
He impressed me almost as he entered into my university, a major cradle of china's scientific and technological talents. At the time, members of the Gifted Class all had to spend half a month studying by themselves the principles of calculus and then take an exam so that we could evaluate their self-study capability. Mr. X scored the highest grade in that exam. He also exhibited a keenly whetted mind during class discussions. To my regret at the time, his English was not as good as his mathematics or physics. But I noticed he made a point of working especially hard in improving his English during his five undergraduate years with us. By now, he seems to be at least as proficient in English as most of his former classmates in the Gifted Class.
In my experience with Mr. X, I was impressed with not only his extraordinary intelligence but also his ambitions and persistence. I am sure that Mr. X will be an outstanding student in any doctoral program that he may care to enroll in. So I would like to support him firmly in his quest recommendation into account when considering his application. I would greatly appreciate it you decide to accept him as he wishes.
Yours sincerely

Dear Colleagues,
As professor and vice director of Peking University‘s Physics College, I am sincerely glad to recommend Mr. Antony Zhu to further his studies in the Physics Department of your university. Mr. Zhu has been a key member in the scientific research group I led.
As a researcher and vice-director of Peking University‘s Physics College, I am proud of such an excellent student. I taught him two important courses General Physics Experiment and Advanced Physics Experiment, in which Mr. Zhu has impressed me with his theoretical foundation in labwork. Mr. Zhu is a talented student in both studies and activities that demand strong hands-on abilities. Academically he not only scored excellent marks in classroom studies, but showed outstanding experimental abilities. Thanks to his strong interest and good marks in physics he joined a scientific research group I led when he was a third-year student while ordinary undergraduates do not start joining such groups until the fourth year. The research project focused on applying a resistance furnace to sinter the super conductor and measure it heat and resistance. In this work Mr. Zhu showed great patience and strictness required of a good laboratory experimenter. Particularly he showed very good creative thinking in the process. For example, to overcome inaccurate artificial recording, he proposed to measure the temperature and resistance by computer-control circuits instead of artificial work. Later, on the basis of analyzing the various experiment conditions, he successfully settled the problems in the design of circuits and procedures, greatly improving the measuring accuracy in the experiment. This showed that Mr. Zhu was already qualified for independent scientific research work. Another indication of Mr. Zhu‘s creativity is the project on new airplane energy in which he participated. This project was the only one in our department and one of the few in the entire Peking University that were qualified for final exhibit at the “Challenge Cup-Looking Ahead into the New Millennium” Creativity Contest for all-Beijing universities students.
Besides, I find in Mr. Zhu a rare independent personality and maturity. For example, he was admitted into the Computer Department of our university as a student holding two Bachelor‘s Degrees (one of which being Bachelor‘s Degree in E-Business) as he excelled both in physics and computer science. But eventually he gave up what other students would think a golden opportunity for a well-ensured high paid job. He calmly told me the reason: He prefers physics to computer studies.
This is what I would like to let you know about my impression about Mr. Zhu. I may say he is a credit to our college. I wish he would also be a credit to your university. Hereby I would like to reiterate my recommendation to you with great enthusiasm.
Sincerely Yours
